Georgetown uses CORT Furniture for faculty housing

CORT Case Study: Georgetown University

Georgetown University was ready to revamp their staff housing program and ensure that furniture remained in good condition year after year. Creative thinking and collaboration with CORT sparked a new furniture rental program for live-in staff.

Associate Director for Residential Services Matthew Hollingshead was looking for a sustainable way to refresh Georgetown’s staff housing program year after year. With a desire to keep furniture contemporary and in good condition, Hollingshead turned to CORT with the challenge of creating a program to that could provide current, quality furniture that appealed to staff and free up staff hours coordinating and moving furniture.

How We Helped:

  • Removed and recycled old furniture before replacing apartments with updated CORT furniture pieces.
  • Delivered and installed furniture in a timely manner, so live-in staff had apartments ready for move-in at the start of school.
  • Designed a custom staff housing furnishing program that created a predictable furnishing and maintenance staff housing budget for the next five years.
  • Plans to conduct an annual audit of the furniture to determine which pieces need to be replaced or need maintenance.

CORT's Solution

CORT collaborated with the university to create a customized staff housing program that reduced resources spent on coordinating furniture in staff apartments. The program includes a detailed outline of maintenance and delivery expectations, an annual audit, the terms of the lease, cost per unit and furniture pieces included for each apartment.

The Result

When it came time to prepare staff housing for the new school year, CORT arrived with trucks in tow. CORT’s professional installation team removed furniture from each staff apartment and replaced it with new pieces from the CORT collection. The apartments were ready for staff move-in just in time for school to begin and so far the response from staff have been nothing but positive. In fact, Georgetown decided to add two additional units to their lease.
